Goal setting is a powerful skill that can enhance your child's chances of success in school and beyond. The best news is that goal setting is clearly a skill you can teach your kids and they'll use it forever. The trick is to choose goals that are challenging but still within your child's reach. These eight questions help you determine if the goal you or your child set is achievable.
Yes No
___ ___ 1. Can he clearly picture exactly what he wants to accomplish?
___ ___ 2. Is this something she really wants to take responsibility for achieving?
___ ___ 3. Has he thought through all the steps necessary to succeed?
___ ___ 4. Can she explain the specifics of her plan to someone else?
___ ___ 5. Does it make sense for him to do this to do this?
___ ___ 6. Does he have the necessary skills to achieve the goal?
___ ___ 7. Does she have the necessary support [personal and/or financial to succeed?
